San Francisco Archery Shop sits quietly near the edge of the Richmond District, close to the green expanse of Golden Gate Park. This unassuming spot is where locals and visitors who want to try archery or pick up quality equipment come to get hands-on guidance without feeling rushed or overlooked.

The shop’s atmosphere feels personal and welcoming, with a genuine sense of community around a somewhat niche activity. If you wander in on a sunny weekend, you might find a relaxed mix of first-timers and more experienced archers preparing for a day out at the nearby ranges. The presence of a friendly dog lounging on the counter adds a casual, lived-in charm that’s rare in specialty stores.

Eddie, the owner, is known for taking time with newcomers, patiently walking them through the basics and ensuring equipment fits just right. This makes the shop especially appealing for groups trying archery for the first time, like friends or couples looking for a new outdoor activity. Rentals are straightforward, and the instruction feels less like a formal lesson and more like an approachable conversation.

Beyond rentals, the shop serves as a helpful resource for folks who want to dive deeper into archery—whether building out their kit or seeking advice on gear upgrades. Its location near Golden Gate Park makes it a convenient launch point for spending the afternoon outdoors, practicing skills or just enjoying the fresh air.

Open every day, the shop accommodates a flexible schedule, inviting visits when the neighborhood is buzzing or when you want a quieter moment to focus on your technique. The friendly, laid-back vibe means you won’t feel pressured, and there’s room for both kids and adults to find their pace.

My girlfriend and her friends came to this shop to rent equipment to try archery for the first time. The shop owner, Eddie, is very welcoming and patient. He is a great instructor and took the time to make sure the girls knew how to use a bow properly. We will definitely come back when we're in the area!

We happened to bop into this shop while walking around the Richmond area because there was a very cute dog chilling on the counter in there. The owner/staff person was really nice and the shop seems great, though I am not an archer myself. That being said I would recommend checking this place out!

There aren’t enough positive things to say about this place. Eddie welcomed us with open arms despite being newcomers, outfitted us with everything we needed for a great day at the range, and gave an extensive explanation on how to use it. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking to get into archery or just enjoy a day at GGP

They went through some big renovations but they are back and told me they are open every day of the week 12-8 pm. It’s a very friendly store and they let me shoot some arrows when I was locked and let other kids shoot arrows.

Awesome staff and high-quality equipment! Scott was super helpful in outfitting my 8 year old with age and ability appropriate gear including a little in-store practice. Couldn't be happier with my experience. Great place, highly recommended!
